As of March 2015 the City of Neenah decided that it was in the best interests of the residents of Neenah to improve and repair Washington Park. They decided to hire Ayres Associates to complete a Master Plan for the remodeling of the park. On June 11, 2015 a public information meeting was held in the meeting building at Washington Park. At this meeting they developed three different concepts for the park based on public input. On August 13, 2015 Ayres Associates presented their concepts to the Parks and Recreation Commission. These concepts were made accessible to the public so they could comment. From the three concepts and the public input on the concepts, they made a final design which was presented and approved on December 17, 2015. To implement the master plan it was decided to take place in four phases over several years to absorb cost over time and pursue alternative funding sources. The grouped the many portions of the plan into like projects for maximum efficiency of contractor mobilization. They want to begin the first phase within a year of adoption of the plan so they could build off of the excitement developed during the design process. The new renovations should hopefully improve the well-being of nearby residents and anyone who uses the park.
